Still deciding whether to go vegan? Is weight loss a big enough reason for you? What about reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer, or helping to reduce your blood sugar levels. Results are instant and the health benefits will amaze you.

Research shows that dieters who lead a strict vegan diet lifestyle including vegetables, fruits, grains, and legumes, improved their glycemic control, cardiovascular factors and helped to control blood sugar levels in patients who suffered from diabetes.

Overweight people benefit from the vegan diet lifestyle with weight loss and increased insulin sensitivity. it is probably one of only a few weight-loss plan that has been scientifically proven to take weight off and keep it off.

What about the vitamin and protein deficiencies from a vegan diet?

Some researchers comment that a vegan diet can lead to vitamin and protein deficiencies. I do agree to some degree. If a vegan diet is not managed properly, vegans can starve their body of important nutrients such as a vitamin B12 and protein. But if managed properly, a vegan diet can result in weight loss and other health benefits. It is important, however, that before embarking on a strict vegan diet, people learn more about a vegan lifestyle.

If you’re a bit overweight like me and want to shed some pounds, then going on a vegan diet just makes sense.

Click here to continue reading the benefits of a vegan diet and how it can help you to loss weight. not to metion the other health benefits that follows

Most health experts will concur that a vegan diet is perfectly safe during pregnancy. Thousands of women observe this type of diet all the time and birth beautiful, healthy babies. The ADA (American Dietetic Association) even stated in the J Am Diet Assoc. 2009; 109:1266-1282….. that, “Well-planned vegetarian diets are appropriate for individuals during all stages of the lifecycle, including pregnancy, [and] lactation….”

The most important thing that an expectant mother must do, whether vegan or non-vegan, is to ensure that she is eating enough of the foods that have the vitamins, minerals and nutrients that the baby needs. Ironically, a vegan diet naturally accommodates this. By eating lots of green, leafy, low-oxalate vegetables such as collard greens, bok choy, broccoli, Chinese cabbage and kale an expectant mother will get all the calcium that she and the baby need. Nutritional yeast, fortified cereal, fortified soy milk, tempeh, miso, and other plant foods will provide a good source of Vitamin B-12. Meanwhile, grain foods, nuts, beans and tofu, just to name a few, are all rich sources of protein. Finally, natural iron and folic acid can be found in lentils, beans, spinach, leafy greens, and citrus fruits.

Contrary to popular belief, a vegan expectant mother is at no greater risk than a non-vegan expectant mother of failing to consume an adequate amount of vitamins and minerals. All expectant mothers must take care to strategically plan out their meals. However, a pregnant vegan mother may be at a slight advantage over a non-vegan pregnant mother in that her lifestyle alone exposes her to a wider range of nutrient-rich foods which the body readily and easily absorbs and which meet the demands of pregnancy.

Being a vegan expectant mother can be a liberating and awesome experience. You have the comfort of knowing that what you are eating is directly benefiting your baby. You also know that you are taking an extra step in ensuring that you both have a better chance at optimal health. So enjoy and focus less on the insecurities of others regarding your choice of diet and more on staying healthy, meeting the nutritional needs of your baby and enjoying the blissful experience of having a life grow inside of you. Take advantage of this time to make the act of eating enjoyable and maybe even foster better eating habits that you maintain well beyond the pregnancy.

A well-planned vegan diet can be a healthy dietary choice for anyone and at any stage of development. A vegan teen is no less healthy than a meat-eating teen. Its about making healthy food choices and teaching your teen how to make them. Teens, who are expressing to their parents a desire to adopt a plant-based diet are for the most part quite proactive in educating themselves about veganism. In fact, was probably during the course of learning about veganism that they independently made the decision to adopt such a lifestyle.

Whether it’s out of concern for the environment, animal rights or health reasons more and more teens are announcing to their parents that they want to become vegans. If you are the parent of one of these teens there is no need to go into a fit. In fact, this decision could not have come at a better time. Sure you’re concerned that making such a dietary change may negatively impact your teens’ growth and development. However, this couldn’t be any further from the truth. A vegan teen is also a very health conscious teen. Therefore, a vegan teen will take greater care to adopt a well-planned diet over their meat-eating counterparts who are more likely to snack on pizza, hot dogs and sugary snacks instead of fruits and vegetables.

That said, the best way to respond to a teen who decides to become vegan is to be supportive. Educating yourself about this dietary choice may even help you become more health conscious about your own eating habits. We learn as much, if not more, from our children as they learn from us so why not let this be another opportunity to learn and bond with your teen.

Sure, as a parent you will still have some concerns such as whether your vegan teen will get the appropriate amount of vitamins and nutrients. Well whole grains, beans, lentils, tofu, nuts and veggie meats are all excellent sources of protein. Additionally, beans, cashews, raisins, spinach, tempeh and tomato juice are packed with iron. You might also be concerned about your teen getting vitamin B-12. No need to worry about that either because he or she can easily do so by eating fortified cereals, fortified soy milk or taking multivitamins. If that’s not enough, numerous studies have shown that eliminating dairy products and meat, while eating nuts and whole grains will improve cardiovascular health. As you can see, this dietary transition is not the end of the world. Johnny will still be Johnny and Susie will still be the same Susie, just with improved cardiovascular health and lowered risk of contracting several other deadly diseases.

An unbalanced diet whether vegetarian or non- can be unhealthy. However, a vegan or vegetarian diet can effectively provide your teens’ body with all the nutrients needed and it is relatively easy to plan a balanced vegan diet.

Your vegan restaurant business plan is a article that describes your vegan restaurant business with its objectives and shows how those objectives ought to be achieved.

Lacking a plan it is doubtful that possible “angel investors” and the like will invest in your vegan restaurant business if that is what you require to start-up or if you need to take it up another level

If you have a particular financier in mind you ought to manufacture it to their necessities or else how are you going to get any wealth out of them if what you state in your vegan restaurant business plan is the other extreme of what they have in mind for a vegan restaurant business

Your vegan restaurant business plan is not just for getting you the investment you need – it’s main objective ought to be to point the bearing in which your vegan restaurant business is heading.

Do not fill your business plan with jargon for the sake of it – your financier might not have a clue about the prospective business – just a sack load of cash that they want to throw at new businesses – they aren’t necessarily going to known the vegan restaurant business acronyms that you use on a day to day basis. Don’t be afraid to use diagrams in your plan – this will break it up as well making it easier to read.

Take a crack at making the business plan as optimistic as possible but don’t shy away from any observable problems there may be in setting up your vegan restaurant business as your investor will likely have thought of them anyway; so if you can get their first and reply to the likely questions before they think of them so much the better.

Make a solid first impression by presenting the document in a clear and professional approach by using a clear, uncomplicated design that conveys a proficient image and stay away from jargon, keeping the subject matter concise and hard hitting. Any technical or supporting information should be provided in the appendices.

Keep all the numbers between the main body of the article and your appendices – if you put large sections of figures in the body of your article you’ll distract your financier from the flow of the vegan restaurant business plan.

If you are starting a new business; it’s important you explain why you came up with the idea to start this new business. Give advantages of your distinct products or services that you intend to recommend to potential clients stating how you plan to get their business. Give details of the market sector whether it is a growing sector or not, give details of your pricing policy and how you intend to trade your goods/services. Highlight any opposition out there and how you plan to compete in this rewarding market and make your investor a return on his or her money.

It is crucial that your financier (if that’s what your plan is in the beginning used for) believes in you and your team (if you have one). If you come to an financier having just thought…”wouldn’t it be good to have my own vegan restaurant business” – you are going to get laughed out the door. It is important to make plain your knowledge and show your knowledge and skill-sets as well as any other managers involved in the vegan restaurant business. If you need any workers highlight these in the appendices – it’s fundamental that any critical roles in the vegan restaurant business are ironed out before you meet your investor – if it is a pivotal role you need for your vegan restaurant business then you won’t get the investment you need.

We’ve heard it all, but this one is very NEW. Many people have complained throughout the years about clothing made out of animal skins, such as snakes, crocodiles, leopards…etc. Well, this time, these animal rights protectors will have a special clothing line just for them, and this should be encouraged to expend to the point where we only have vegetarian shopping guide, fashion for vegans, or organic vegan fashion. You can participate even if you eat meat, but cruelty to the point of ripping the animal’s skin to wear it, is horrifying if you go deep and think about the actual process of that action. Online Education India

You have several websites to shop online for vegan clothing, online vegan shoes, and online vegan brands. You could try www.greenpeople.org, www.veganstore.com, www.veganvillage.co.uk, and www.fashion-conscious.com, which are only a few amongst the places to purchase from. This new trend is not about to stop, but it’s ravishing the market, slowly, but surely for vegetarian shopping guide. If you prefer going to real life stores, you have “Cosmo’s Vegan Shoppe” in Marietta, GA, also Crystalynkae stores in various areas, such as San Diego, Denver, Atlanta, Washington DC, and Massachusetts. You could also buy their vegan handbags online and vegan clothes shoes at www.crystalynkae.com. There will be a Vegan Fall Fashion Show 2010 held in Albany, New York this October 2nd at 1:30pm for the Vegan Expo.

Prestigious Study Center

This will be the first time for the Vaute Couture, as they call it with a “V” on purpose instead of “H”, to show everything fromclothing , handbags, hair products, and make-up. They use different fibers, and even recycled bottles. It is a great opportunity to prove to you that you can live without hurting animals for alternative clothing vegan. I mean imagine the animals doing that to us to look pretty, does that sound fair to you? I don’t think so. Some ways need to change and this is a revolutionary action, which is huge to influence the world and open our eyes about the fact that the clothes we buy might be gorgeous, but at what price? Go Vegan, and stay there is the path to compassion, friendliness, and true beauty.

Some of you might be happier when purchasing a cruelty-free product, and not have a guilty conscious afterwards. I guess we get carried away and not care much as life goes by, but this awareness is a wake-up call for all of us. We can look sexy, be attractive, and hot without necessarily wearing blood on our skins. Think about it for a second!

Of all the classifications of vegetarians, vegans are among the strictest. Vegans omit all animal products (including eggs and dairy) as well as foods containing animal-derived ingredients. In other words, a vegan diet consists of plant-based foods only.

Now there are several myths about vegans and whether such a lifestyle is healthy. However, we will dispel many such myths in this article. One is that because a vegan diet consists of no meat it is unhealthy. However, a carefully planned vegan diet is just as healthy than a carefully planned meat-based diet. In fact, such carefully planned vegan diets have been proven to be even more healthy and nutritious than conventional diets.

Another myth is that a vegan diet is void of protein, calcium and Vitamin B-12. However, this couldn’t be further from the truth. For starters, a vegan diet offers a variety of sources of protein including grain foods, nuts, beans and tofu, just to name a few. You may have even heard the myth that animal protein is superior to vegetable protein. This is indeed a myth and is easily dis-proven by the fact that high levels of protein steal calcium from bones leading to osteoporosis. Furthermore, it has been found that the typical Western diet contains too much protein. In short, a variety of plant foods eaten throughout the day can meet protein requirements. Regarding calcium, there are several plant foods that are excellent sources of calcium. Green, leafy, low-oxalate vegetables such as collard greens, bok choy, broccoli, Chinese cabbage and kale are not only all great sources of calcium, but the body easily absorbs the calcium from these food sources. Lastly, regarding Vitamin B-12, foods such as nutritional yeast, fortified cereal, fortified soy milk, tempeh, miso, and other plant foods when consumed regularly throughout the day provide plenty of Vitamin B-12.

Notwithstanding all the myths a vegan diet offers a variety of benefits which are undeniable. Furthermore, the decision to adopt this diet is a personal one. That said, before making judgements and falling prey to the untruths about veganism keep an open mind and continue to educate yourself. There is much to discover about this very unique diet and lifestyle.

Transitioning to a plant-based diet is a lot easier than most think. In fact, the challenge is all in your head. If you think about it, in many ways you have already eaten several vegan meals and without even being aware that you had done so. For instance, you’ve probably enjoyed a salad as a meal, had pasta with primavera sauce or whipped up a scrumptious vegetable stir fry. So given the ease with which you did those things, the rest of the transition will be a cake walk. Here are some tips to top that cake with icing.

Pick 3 days of the week to do a “meatout”
Eliminate one meat at a time
Replace beef, pork, and poultry with vegan meat substitutes (e.g. Boca Crumbles and Burgers, Tofurky products, Lite Life Bacon strips, tofu, mock chicken, etc.)
Gradually eat more fresh fruits and vegetables
Start eating more organic foods to awaken your taste buds
Start to eat more of the vegetarian dishes that you already eat (e.g. beans & rice, fruit salad, salad, vegetable or bean soup, peanut butter and jelly sandwich, pasta with sauce (no meat), etc.)
Start to purchase the vegan kitchen essentials, including some good vegan cookbooks
On your next couple of trips to the store replace a few meat-based items with vegetable-based ones (e.g. get Soy Delicious ice cream instead of Edy’s or get Veggie or Rice Shreds instead of cheddar cheese)
Establish a social network of other vegans so that you have a support system
Avoid lamenting over what you can’t eat as a vegan and focus more on the variety of vegan food choices now at your disposal that you have yet to explore
Become an expert on veganism (a lot of people always want to know more about it and will come to you for advice)
When attending social functions eat before going (they will often not have any vegan food choices and this will cut down on temptation)
Snack often, at least 2 times a day, on healthy vegan treats (e.g. seeds, fruits, veggies and dip, smoothies, etc.)
If you’re feeling hungry despite having eaten a meal and snacking treat yourself to a nice cup of herbal tea
Be easy on yourself (when you give in to temptation and indulge in some non-vegan food don’t beat yourself up. Just vow to overcome the next time).

During your world travels, it is quite possible to find inns that cater to your special dining needs. Vegetarians and vegans have specific concerns when they travel. One of these concerns is their accommodations. Will there be enough meal options at their hotel? If that is not the case, then will cafes or restaurants closeby have a veggie-friendly a menu? Many hotels, inns and b&bs have restaurants on site. However, they do not usually serve vegan meal options.

Vegan travelers need not worry! What many people do not realize is that there are indeed many inns and bed and breakfasts that are specifically for vegetarians and vegans! These vegan-friendly inns can be found all across the globe. They provide vegetarian or vegan meals for their guests. Vegan muffins or tofu scramble is typically provided for breakfast. The on site cafes offer a veggie-friendly menu for lunch and dinner. The vegetarian b & bs usually serve vegan meals upon request without a problem.

In the spirit of their animal-loving environment, even the bedding in the guest rooms consists of non-animal products.

The vegetarian and vegan inns are located across the United States, Canada, Europe, South and Central America, Ghana, and parts of Asia.

When one thinks of fast food, burgers, hot dogs, and buffalo wings come to mind. Vegan fast food?..Yes..It does exist! Vegan fast food restaurants have been cropping up across the globe. FoodSwings in New York City is one of these restaurants. Their menu is quite vast and encompasses every imaginable, fast food item. Veggie burgers, veggie dogs, faux buffalo wings, faux chicken fingers, faux Philly cheesesteak, chile, and faux fish n chips are just a few of their delectable menu offerings!

Faux meats and faux cheeses are made of soy, wheat, gluten, or other non-animal products. Typically, soy is the ingredient of choice. For the newly vegan or carnivore guest, I can assure you that these faux substitutes will not disappoint you! You may even convert to veganism yourself. These faux meats and soy cheeses will even please the palate of a carnivore!

My first experience at an all-vegan, fast food restaurant was indeed at FoodSwings in New York for both lunch and dinner. I ordered the veggie dog, buffalo wings, fish n chips, and potato skins with faux bacon bits. These all vegan restaurants make this dining experience an authentic one. In other words, just as carnivores indulge in all of the toppings and condiments enhance their selections, these all-vegan alternatives do likewise. My veggie dog arrived complete with faux cheese, mustard and relish. The fish n chips was accompanied with vegan, tartar sauce. The buffalo wings were smothered in BBQ sauce. Finally, the potato skins arrived with faux bacon bits and faux sour cream. For the first time in my life, I could relate to anyone who had experienced the fast food, dining scene!

Vegan, fast food restaurants are becoming more commonplace in Europe also. Germany in particular can boast of several of these eateries. They serve the typical fare of veggie dogs, veggie burgers, buffalo wings, chicken fingers, and so forth. Some of these restaurants specialize in a particular type of fast food, such as veggie dogs.

As a vegan child, I can recall feeling “out of place” when accompanying friends to the breach or seashore or on a vacation. While the others found a satisfying lunch at a clam shack or burger cafe, I had to either settle for fries and a salad or frantically wander around the vacation spot seeking vegan meal options. That is no longer the case!

As the global vegan population continues to grow, we should expect to see more of these all-vegan, fast food restaurants appearing in many locations across the world.

Actually, vegans refrain from eating both chicken and fish. There are several classifications of vegetarians and vegans are among the strictest. They don’t eat any meat or meat products including dairy and eggs. There are even some vegans who omit honey from their diet as they consider it to be an animal product.

Now as mentioned before there are several types of vegetarians, including some that do eat chicken and/or fish. They are called pescatarians, pollo-vegetarians and flexitarians. Pescatarians, one of the more moderate types of vegetarians, omit all animal flesh from their diet with the exception of fish. Pollo-vegetarians refrain from eating red meat, but do eat poultry. Meanwhile, flexitarians are a classification of vegetarians who continue to consume meat, but merely reduce their intake of it.

With the increase of people adopting a vegan diet, there are bound to be some that may refer to themselves as vegans, but be observed consuming fish or chicken. However, realize that this is probably due to a lack of education about the differences in vegetarian classifications. Alternatively, they may be in the process of transitioning from a pescatarian or pollo-vegetarian diet to a vegan diet. For most, converting to veganism is a gradual process that often begins on the vegetarian track. Thus, its not such a bad thing that they refer to themselves as vegan. It just means that they are on the path toward realizing that goal.

So if you’re thinking about becoming a vegan, but can’t yet shake the meat addiction, take your time. Making the transition gradually will ensure that you also make the transition permanently. After all, given the benefits of a vegan diet, it is most probable that once you become vegan you will remain vegan.
