Vegetarians and vegans: Do many of your friends and family also tend to be vegetarian or vegan?

by Admin on March 29, 2010

I qυеѕtіοn bесаυѕе NONE οf mу friends οr family аrе vegetarian οr vegan (nοr аm I). In fact, nobody I know very well іѕ, tο mу knowledge, a vegetarian οr a vegan.

I’m јυѕt unusual іf аnу οf уου hаνе noticed аnу similar trends, thаt those οf a common dietary сhοісе tend tο pull towards уου lіkе-minded friends οr hаνе lіkе-minded family.

I’m a vegan. My mum and little brother are vegetarians. My dad and older brother are heavy meat eaters. I don’t have any vegetarian friends.

Well, there aren’t a whole lot of vegans in my high school. I have 2 vegetarian friends, and my other friends are omnivores. My friends are every diverse! They range from atheist to Evangelical to Wicca, from black to white to asian, from artist to musician to writer to nothing special at all! They vary similarly in their dietary choices.

No.None of my friends or family members are vegetarian.I don’t know any other veggies. My family first thought I became a vegetarian because of my friends but nope.

I’m a vegan, and of the five friends i spend the most time with, 3 are vegetarian and the other 2 are meat eaters. My mum used to be a vegetarian before she got anaemic, so i was brought up veggie for 9 years. Sadly, i don’t know of any other vegans though.

My mom and I are vegans. Besides her, I don’t know anybody else.

Sadly, all of the people I know, besides my mommy, are on the SAD. (Standard American Diet)

My dad became pescetarian then vegetarian after I went vegetarian. Other than that, I have 0 friends or family who are not meat-eaters, and I never have.

My brother is vegetarian and I have several vegetarian friends. No vegans, except for a couple families I baby-sit for. However I want to marry a vegan (or even a vegetarian) at some point and have little vegans, so it won’t be like this for long.

My mom likes to go vegetarian for diets…
better than nothing I guess.

You think she’d realize that it’s healthier
since one diet allows her to be in shape
and one leads to fat.

Friend, yes. Family, they are all meat eaters. =(
And yes, even my parents tease me.

yes, but none of them are real vegetarians, they all went vegetarian after i went vegan, but one still eats chicken, and the other two eat gelatin. and they say their vegetarian for ethical reasons but have no valid reasons why they still consume other animal products.
i really think they just do it for attention.
i do know another vegan though and its pretty awesome because we can talk about vegan things that other people wouldn’t understand.

My sister is vegetarian – she’s also my roommate, and when she found me reading books on vegetarianism she said if I was going veg she would too. My girlfriend is vegetarian too. I have a few other friends who are veg, but most are omni. The rest of my family is omni, as is my sister’s boyfriend.

No I’m the only vegetarian I’ve ever actually met – not that I could technically meet myself but you what I mean lol

Nope no one that I associate with is vegan or vegetarian. It kinda makes it hard for me being ALMOST vegan, I get the 200 questions about it every time someone finds out that I am. There aren’t even any vegetarian restaurants where I live, it gets pretty annoying actually.

I’m a vegetarian and the only other vegetarians I know are my aunt, my sister and my brothers girlfriend.

tallveganblonde March 29, 2010 at 11:03 pm

Nope. I’ve been vegetarian since 2006, vegan since 2008… and I don’t have any family or friends that are vegan or vegetarian.
