i turned when i was barely 15 too and i had to start taking more vitamins and eating a lot of snacks in between meals like fruits.

one thing i recommend is orange tofu, i absolutely love it, well any type of fried tofu w/ sauce over it.

also stay away from whey, it’s sneaky and is in so many things. and gelatin, ick.

there are a lot of good recipes on vegweb.com and there’s this site in case you’re eating on the run, it shows what you can eat at fast food places.

hope this helped a little. =) congrats & good luck.

Vegans cannot eat meat or other animal products (eggs, milk, cheese…). There are many vegan versions of food, including soy-milk and vegan cheese. The main problem vegans and vegetarians have with their diet is protein. Because you won’t be eating meat, you need to find other protein-rich foods. Nuts are delicious and filled with protein. Tofu is also excellent, and can be used instead of meat in many recipes. Make sure you get your daily requirement of other nutrients as well.

You can’t eat anything that came from an animal – e.g. milk, cheese, eggs, meat and fish (obviously).

If you make sure you’re getting the food types you need daily then it’s very healthy – however that’s the hard part! Protein is the main thing you’ll be lacking. As long as you eat lots of foods like pulses (lentils, beans) or soy-based products (e.g. Quorn) you should be okay.

Calcium is another thing, but if you’re substituting real milk for soy or rice milk then you’ll be fine – both soy and rice milk are high in calcium.

There are also tablets you can take to supplement for these different food types. If you’re seriously considering it then it might be worth buying a book on it – there are hundreds out there that will give advice on what kind of things are good to eat.

Obviously depending on what country you’re in (I’m from the UK), there are lots of foods available if you look around. Vegan can be a bit awkward when eating in restaurants or buying pre-made foods though.

Vegan-ism is very healthy so long as you do it right.
I’ve never been ill at all since I’ve been a vegan.

start out with a vegetarian diet, and if you do ok for a month or so, switch

you cant drink milk so u have to take calcium and other supplements.
